All a nursing mother really needs is lots of rest and a good diet of really healthy food (like fish, vegetables, fruits and other dairy products). But since nursing sometimes really depletes our calcium stores, we may have to check if there are discount supplements available to us, just to augment our calcium reserves (and maybe iron too, for all the lost sleep).
Drinking lots of milk and getting enough sun go a long way in making sure our bones stay healthy but calcium supplements are not bad to be taken either. One should also discuss calcium spplements with one's OB if she notices bones aching or extra sensitive teeth, especially for those who breastfeed for a long time.
